Having a baptism or thanksgiving at St Helen’s
Holding a Christening for your child is a wonderful way of helping them belong in the family of God's church here in Stapleford from a young age. 'Christening' is the old English word for Baptism, which is what Jesus wanted for all his followers, and it also helps the parents and godparents bringing the child for Baptism to think of their own faith and make promises to follow Jesus too.
If you live in Stapleford, you are welcome to have your children baptised in St Helen's. With the support of the wider church family, you and the godparents, your child begins an amazing journey of faith. All you need to know about planning and going to a Church of England Baptism service can be found on churchofenglandchristenings.org. It also includes information about another church service to say thank you for God for your baby.
As Baptism is about making a connection with the church community, it's our normal practice to wait to fix dates for the ceremony until after you have come along to one of our events or services. If you live outside the area, please do come along and find out whether or not it's possible for your ceremony to take place here.
